The Situation
At FIS, the Onward Cup provided a two-week period for personal innovation, allowing individuals or groups to explore process improvements and new product ideas. We presented our proposals to the innovation team in January, with leadership voting on the top ideas in each category. (Our idea was chosen to become a company initiative)
The Task
I collaborated with the PM and developer to review a Figjam board I assembled, mapping out the application of Google Sprint theories to align on deliverables for our tight timeline. We examined research from the United survey, utilized internal knowledge, and incorporated insights from Premium Pay, an internal loyalty product, for our proof of concept. Additionally, I designed and launched a user test to validate user demand and desirability.
The Action
In the early stages of concept development, I led the user experience design for a project focused on enabling low-frequency travelers to spend their airline miles and points at the airport. Collaborating closely with a project manager and a developer, we refined this idea, leveraging insights from a large survey conducted by United Airlines, a topic chosen due to the manager's prior experience. Over a tight five-day timeline, we consolidated existing research, developed a prototype, and validated the concept's viability for FIS, overcoming scheduling constraints and ensuring a robust initial framework.
The Result
The user test demonstrated a strong positive response, with 90% of participants indicating they were "very likely" to adopt the new feature. Consequently, our concept was selected to become a new venture for 2022.
